सनातन धर्म

Know Hinduism

Explore the ancient wisdom and living traditions of the world's oldest religion

What is Hinduism? हिन्दू धर्म

Hinduism — known as Sanatan Dharma (सनातन धर्म), the "Eternal Way" — is the world's oldest living religion, with roots stretching back over 5,000 years. It is not merely a religion but a comprehensive way of life, a philosophy, and a path to spiritual liberation.

Hinduism has no single founder, no single sacred text, and no uniform creed. Instead it is a vast, diverse family of philosophies and traditions unified by core themes: Dharma (righteousness), Karma (action and consequence), Moksha (liberation), and Ahimsa (non-violence).

🕉️ The Symbol Om — ॐ

Om is the most sacred symbol in Hinduism, representing the primordial sound of the universe — the vibration from which all creation emerged. It is chanted at the beginning and end of prayers and rituals.

Hindu Deities देवी-देवता

Hinduism recognises one Supreme Consciousness (Brahman) that manifests in many divine forms. The deities are different facets of this single Reality.

Hindu Philosophy दर्शन

Advaita Vedanta अद्वैत वेदान्त

Non-dualism: the individual soul (Atman) and the universal consciousness (Brahman) are ultimately one and the same. Championed by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century.

"अहं ब्रह्मास्मि" — I am Brahman

Bhakti भक्ति

The path of devotion and love. Through total surrender and loving devotion to a personal deity, one attains spiritual liberation.

"हरे कृष्ण, हरे राम"

Karma Yoga कर्म योग

The path of selfless action. Perform your duty without attachment to results and dedicate every action to the Divine.

"कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते"

Jnana Yoga ज्ञान योग

The path of knowledge. Through study, reflection and discernment between the real and unreal, the seeker attains self-realisation.

"सत्यं ज्ञानं अनन्तं ब्रह्म"
